Day 15. December Daily

15/12/2014

Today I was at work for our annual training day. The last few years they've given us markers and pipe cleaners and toys to keep our hands busy and hopefully our minds focused on the training. This year it was little Lego men - scuba diver (with a few missing parts!) for us this year.

The left photo of the reindeer is one of the Christmas decorations at work which, although they have been around for the last few weeks, today I noticed for the first time!

Picture

News of the siege with hostages at the Lindt Cafe in Martin place Sydney started filtering through after morning tea. It was all that most of us were talking about during the day. When I got home it was still unresolved. A sense of sadness and horror that this could occur here filled social media and the television. I went to bed hoping it would be resolved with no fatalities but that was not to be. Very sad for those innocent people and families involved.

Whilst I was at work Jacob had a mate over for the day - playing Xbox and going to the park. It was a beautiful sunny day here which was great to see after a gloomy and wet weekend.

The brightest bit to today was a text message from my husbands daughter with a photo (ultrasound photo) of her little baby. It is her first child and hubby's first grandchild. The baby is about 12 weeks at the moment and is due is June next year. It was lovely to see and put a big smile on our faces.

Picture

I added a 2x8 strip of a heart transparency from my stash in the pocket near the binder clips. The date card is gold foil card with a white doily and some gold and cream ribbon along the bottom. the teal numbers have glossy accents on top and placed on an oval sticker. A few teal enamel dots to complete it. The day is stamped with Stazon and is from Ali Edwards.

Day 14. December Daily

15/12/2014

Day 14 I was all set to do 14 things from '14. But real life got in the way and I didn't get around to it. I hope to get around to it later this week. The weather here this weekend was grey and stormy - such a contrast to earlier last week when it was so hot and humid.

Date card is from Teresa Collins Tinsel and Co collection. I added the 14 wood veneer from Freckled Fawn Christmas embellishment kit backed with teal glitter cardstock. Date stamp is from Ali Edwards.

Picture

The photo is taken from work on my tea break - storm rolling in over Buderim. Alpha stickers are from Teresa Collins as well.

Picture

I initially made the envelope card to put my 14 reflections from 2014 in. At the moment it is just for decoration. I added a gold striped transparency from Studio Calico to the back.

Picture

The completed page.

Picture

Simple page but it's done. Really enjoying this project - just a bit difficult the last few days and the coming few with busy afternoon and night shifts at work with our busy Special Care Nursery and premature babies.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Day 13. December Daily.

Another busy work day for me. Hubby and son spent the morning at the local shops and as usual (!) mostly involved what the boy wanted for Christmas. As usual they end up in the Xbox one aisle. Gone are the days of Lego and Nerf guns. It's all about gaming this year.

Simple layout today. Date card is from Teresa Collins Tinsel and Co collection with the teal numbers from the Stamp Spot. Date stamped with black Stazon ink.

Picture

Popped a glossy Christmas tree sticker from Kaisercraft onto a white chevron transparency.

Picture

And a photo of the No 1 present on the sons wish list.

Picture

As it sits in my album.

Picture

Simple day but one that makes up our December story.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Day 12. December Daily

Work day today and it is number 2 of nine days straight. We have had an influx of of tiny little humans lately and the Special Care nursery is nearly full. I love working in the nursery with the little premmies. Being so busy means extra staff on each shift (often only one staff member per shift is needed), so I thought I would bring in my Instax camera and some Santa hats today and take some photos.

Left side. The journalling card has alphas from Tinsel and Co collection. The left bottom card I just added some strips of Freckled Fawn washi tape from their Christmas kit. The right bottom card was originally gold and white diagonal stripes. I added a few rows of gold star washi tape along the stripes and some wood veneer stars.

Picture
The day card is from Teresa Collins Tinsel and Co collection and I added the teal letters (with glossy accents on top) rom TSS kit. A few teal enamel dots and the Friday stamp from Ali Edwards also.

Picture

I was trying something a little bit different and filled one of these little outline stars from Studio Calico with teal Zing and then heated. Worked out okay I think ?

Picture

Right side. The right top card was originally gold and white stripes. I heat embossed Alternate gold stripes with teal Zing. The larger bottom card is from Teresa Collins Tinsel and Co collection and I add some Freckled Fawn washi strips to it and some gold sequins.

Picture

I had this 'D' December flair in my stash as just popped it on top of this filler card.

Picture

Wood veneers letters from Freckled Fawn coloured with red sharpie.

Both sides as it sits in my album.

Day 11. December Daily

11/12/2014

Today is all about Christmas decorations. I do love going shopping and seeing all the decorations in the plazas and the streets. I love walking up and down the aisles in the departments stores with shelves overflowing with glittery Christmas goodness. I took a couple of photos of Christmas trees at work and at the shops.

Picture

I tried half successfully to print an Ali Edwards digital script onto a transparency sheet. My friend Petra gave me the steps to do it and it worked out okay - I say half successful because the colour I would have liked more saturated but it's my first go so was pretty happy about it. I just backed it with some white cardstock and is the other side of my Nutcracker photo.

Picture
Picture

This year I found these Nutcrackers which I love.

Picture

I just added an Ali Edwards digital brush script to the bottom.

Picture

The teal bokha date card came in the kit from TSS and I added the gold letters from Teresa Collins Tinsel and co collection. A white circle with a teal glitter dot and the day stamp from Ali Edwards curled around it.

Picture

My pages how they are in my album.

Day 10. December Daily

10/12/2014

Today I used a different page protector - one specific to Instagram photos. Two 4x4 and four 2x2. As I've mentioned before, I love those little 2x2 pockets to put little bits into. Here is my day 10 -

Front page.

Picture

Date card - Vellum and white chevron transparency with teal numbers. All my teal numbers I have used glossy accents on top. Popped these on top of some gold washi tape and gold glitter card circle. This all sits on a 4x4 piece of vellum with teal trees embossed along the bottom (one of Michelle's creations in the kit from the Stamp Spot).

Picture

The little 2x2 pockets I filled with 1) a small glassine envelope with sequins and wood veneers. 2) a digital 'Jolly' printed (Ali Edwards) 3) white chevron transparency 4) journalling.

It was stinking hot and humid here today. Axel was obviously feeling the heat too and was sitting in the blow up pool just waiting for the water !

Picture

Back page.

Playing with our new selfie stick !! We do have a teenage son - but as anyone who has had teenagers knows, he is reluctant to get into the photos. I will however manage to snap a couple before this album is finished !!

Picture

The 2x2 pockets - 1) the glassine envelope 2) a digital 'season' coloured and printed and added glossy accents to 3) stamped 'December' on vellum 4) journalling.

The back of the date card I just added some gold washi and a red 'made over' flair with the 'cheer' sticker from Feckled Fawn on top. I've made over a few of my older flairs by embossing them in Zing.

Picture

A vellum piece stamped and embossed with one of Ali Edwards older Christmas stamps (from TSS kit). I added some red Zing to the heart.

Picture

Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Day 9. December Daily

Probably one of my favourite things about December is all the fresh summer fruits available. I love all the stone fruits available in abundance this time of year and nothing else but cherries reminds me Christmas is close. As for mangoes ... I could seriously eat them all day. We often get a tray of them and between the three of us they are gone in a day or two !!

Date card. Teal numbers from TSS kit. Freckled Fawn cork ornament backed with gold shiny cardstock and day stamp from Ali Edwards. Card is stamped with gold ink and using the Decemer stamp from Alu Edwards on a slant and repetitive.

Picture

Favorite wood veneer from Heidi Swapp Project Life kit.

Day 8. December Daily.

9/12/2014

Today's page I added an insert - from Simple Stories Instagram page protector 6x8 with twelve 2x2 pockets. I really love this style to add lots of bits to the pockets.

Picture

My favourite square is this one. A teal 'zinged' flair button on a gold circle on top of white chevron transparency. On the flair I popped a little circle sticker from Freckled Fawn. Star washi tape and it's complete.

Picture

How it sits in my album with day 7.

Picture

My day 8. Everyday life around here with a teenage son.

We often get texts from our son from his bedroom asking for one of us to come there or more frequently to get him something to eat. We don't live in a huge house and when I got this text it cracked me up laughing. He has a great sense of humour. And yes he did get his own ice cream.

Picture

The date card is a sequin pocket made by Michelle and came in the kit from the Stamp Spot. Added the teal 8 with glossy accents on top and the day stamp from Ali Edwards.

Picture

Because today's story is about my son I embossed a cardboard letter J in gold Zing and added to the teal transparency.

Picture

Day 7. December Daily

8/12/2014

Quiet Sunday here. And a quick page in my December Daily album. I have noticed in the last week or two these amazing trees with their red/orange foliage. Just beautiful.

They are what are commonly called Flame Trees and are amazingly striking in their foliage (One of my favourite Cold Chisel songs is Flame Trees!). I snapped this whilst driving home from shopping (and I did pull over to the side of the road first !!).

It really is amazing when you do stop and look around, what amazing things you see. I know I have changed in what I take photos of now is way different to what I used to take years ago. Project Life and projects like this have encouraged me to look for photos alongside the usual photos I take.

Now for my day 7.

The date card is a simple one - Teresa Collins card, a Freckled Fawn number with some red glitter cardstock and the day stamp from Ali Edwards.

Picture

This filler card was just perfect for this day and how amazing things are when you stop and look.

Picture

A 'lovely' wood veneer from Freckled Fawn adhered to the photo.

Picture

How it is together and in my album.

Day 6. December Daily

7/12/2014

Before I start on today, I obviously spoke too soon with Axel growing out of his 'chewing anything and everything that is lying around' stage. This morning after work I came home to find this ----

Picture

My very favourite and the best craft scissors, in pieces. My Cutterbee scissors. Handles chewed and in bits. The blades are still okay but not much use without the handles. Grrrr.....

Christmas decorations. Usually we put up the tree on December 1st but for some reason (most likely too many night shifts) we put in up in stages during the week. We have a few Christmas trees (!) ranging in size from small table top ones to a 6 foot one that we have had since Jacob was a baby. We did actually use the big one most years we were on the yacht - it sat in one corner of the saloon (our yacht had 7 foot headroom so it was perfect).

This year we decided to use our small fibre optic tree, decorated as well and placed on our Ikea bookcase.

Picture
Picture
Picture

Simple but decorated. Of course there is a touch of teal in there !!

My pages for day 6. The left side has two photos of tree decorations plus two cards made from the Stamp Spot kit. The day card is from Teresa Collins and I added the teal number 6 with Glossy Accents on top. The Saturday stamp is one of Ali Edwards older sets I've had for a long time. The 'Joy' stamp is patterned card from Teresa Collins and I handwrite the Joy with an embossing pen and used red Zing on it. The trees were made by Michelle at the Stamp Spot and originally were on a 3x4 card. I just trimmed around the trees (with my now eaten Cutterbee scissors !!) and adhered to the bottom of the card.

Picture

The tree. A 4x6 photo on a transparency from Studio Calico with some wood veneer stars.

Picture

The transparency between the two pages.

Picture

The right side. Two photos of the tree. The top right pocket is a glassine bag onto which I added some burlap and vellum which has a gold embossed star stamp (Ali Edwards) on it (made by Michelle again). Added the Tis the Season from Teresa Collins Tinsel and Co collection and some teal enamel dots. A gold tag sits in the pocket with journalling for the day. It's not hidden for a reason - just is the spot for it.

Picture

As it appears in my album.
